Focused Beam
Cost: 8 Gene Points
- At Level 1, your Jade Laser will increase in power by 5x every three seconds that it fires.
- By default, with no runes, the Jade Laser only fires for 5 seconds. With runes you can bring it to 20 seconds.
- This means for the first 3 seconds it does its normal damage, then gets a 5x boost. If it continues, then at the six second mark it gets boosted again, etc.
Gene Tree Ascension
- Version 3.80 brought Gene Tree Ascension Tiers which allow levelling up genes to make them more powerful.
- For Focused Beam this means the base value increases by 5x every level.

Should I Get It?
The gene in this position used to be called Treasure Butterfly, and was the #1 gene to get, especially for new players. With the 3.80 update, they decided TB could not scale up in level so they created a new gene to replace it, moving the benefits of TB to be the first buff when you Ascend. I struggle to recommend this gene as any sort of priority. First, if your Jade Beetle isn't even awake yet this obviously does not do anything. Second, your beetle already does a ton of damage. Boosting it by 5x every few seconds might help kill one more reptile?Now... just on visual aesthetics, this gene is pretty awesome. It makes the laser beam more and more ridiculously powerful looking as it increases. You might expect it to blow a hole through the top of your phone case.
